Redo logs store information about logged transactions occurring in the database. In the event that a database must be recovered from a prior backup, the logs can be used to recreate (redo) database transactions that have occurred since the backup files were generated. VROOM lets you examine the current status of online redo log groups.
The calendar highlights the days of the month in which redo log switches occurred. The grid beside the calendar also highlights the hours of the selected day in which redo log switches occurred. Since log switches occur after transactions have filled the current redo log, this information can be used to infer the daily and monthly periods of high transactional activity on the database.
