VROOM!
The Versatile Read-Only Oracle Monitor

© 2005 MerrittLabs

VROOM is a cross-platform performance monitor for Oracle databases. VROOM provides a graphical interface to much of the information stored in the Oracle data dictionary, as well as performance statistics that can be inferred from daily operations.

A valuable feature is the database pulse monitor: VROOM checks at startup to see if Oracle databases are “up” or “down” and displays the status of all databases on the main VROOM console -- you can now tell at a single glance if there are database problems! For Unix/Linux servers, VROOM also provides valuable CPU and disk metrics.

Although it has many features that are useful to database administrators, VROOM is aimed at technical managers and analysts, who need a rapid graphic overview of the status of enterprise databases. VROOM includes extensive integrated reporting capabilities -- over 40+ detailed management reports can be generated and printed, documenting key aspects of database and server performance, as well as query and object tuning. VROOM can also generate Entity-Relationship (E/R) diagrams, which clarify the relationships between database tables.

In addition to many clear, color-coded graphs and grids, VROOM includes context-sensitive help for most Oracle tuning features. Extensively documented, it is designed to facilitate communications between end-users and database administrators.

VROOM runs on Windows 98 and higher. Unlike many database monitoring programs, VROOM does not require ODBC or JDBC to connect to databases. It provides version-specific metrics for Oracle 7.3 and above, on Unix, Linux, and Windows platforms.

More information about the specific capabilities of VROOM can be found by browsing the site with the buttons on the left.
